Yelp.com Review - by Wendy P.

2.0 of 5 stars. Two stars because it is on the beach. Otherwise, it is pretty bad. It was actually the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. There was a thick layer of dust on every surface over four feet high and the...

Yelp.com Review - by Adrienne V.

4.0 of 5 stars. Being on the ocean (literally ON) automatically earns this place 5 stars. But I have to delete one because it has been allowed to become run down.I stayed in room 307 and had a King size bed and a...

Yelp.com Review - by Steve E.

4.0 of 5 stars. This place is a FOUR-STAR dump. The carpet was threadbare, faded and stained; the sliding glass doors and screens are off their trolleys; the pseudo-antique furniture is on its last legs; the...

Great view! by Sara C. at InsiderPages

This place has an amazing view, it's right on the edge of Seaward, steps from the water. The owner is very nice and helpful. It's not the most flashy hotel, and doesn't have a ton of extra amenities, but the...

Yelp.com Review - by Tiara B.

4.0 of 5 stars. The Inn On the Beach is a little secret hide-a-way of mine, and I almost hate letting anyone in on it, but it's just too cool not to. It takes me an hour or less to get up to the Seaward Ave. beach...

Location is the only good thing

As the saying goes with real estate in California: "Location, location, location", because that's ALL Inn on the Beach has going for it. The hotel itself is not clean (and I'm not counting the fact that it's on the beach), and it's extremely dated and run down. For two summers they've told us that they're "going to remodel", but it has never happened. Not a speck of dust has been moved in the name of remodeling, or anything else, during those two years. Locks are the old-style key; many locks are corroded due to the sea air and take several minutes to unlock. Last summer the elevator was out of service; we were told it happened the day before. However, the handwritten "Out of Order" signs appeared to have been there for months, probably longer--faded marker, water stains, degrading masking tape that was used to post the signs, etc. Also last summer the entire area was plunged into darkness for maintenance by the local electric company. All the surrounding businesses knew this, but the management at Inn at the Beach claimed to have not been notified. This would not have been too much of a problem, but I use a CPAP machine to sleep. I saw several other guests carrying theirs in as well. These don't operate without electricity. I had to stay awake literally all night; the electricity came back on at 3:38 in the morning. These are but of a few of the many inconveniences and indifferent service you have to put up with if you're staying here.

Zero Star

Reserved by phone after seeing thier site on the net. After checking in we found no heater, bad beds, worn out furnishings, broken light fixtures, few amenitys, ect, ect. The last straw was trying to use tub and finding the jets did not work only to be told that they had been that way for sometime. We checked out after being assured my card woul not be charged, IT WAS! Now the owner will not return calls and the staff refuses to give me his number.
