La Tour is a restaurant we always visit on our anual ski trip to Vail. The food was always reliably good and we especially enjoyed the adult atmosphere. Although the staff was always a bit pretentious we knew we could count on a pleasant experience. This past February, we decided never again. As we sat down and ordered a bottle of wine, we imagined we would have a glass or even a few sips before our food arrived. The first bottle of wine we ordered off the menu was no longer available so we made another selection..The wine did not appear and our appetizers did. We were asked how we were enjoying our appetizers and remarked we were waiting for our wine before beginning. Wine finally arrived..they could not find it in the cellar and rushed to try and chill it (unsuccessfully). No apology! We were rushed through dinner, and felt really uncomfortable gulping down the wine so they would stop giving us the evil eye to get out of the table for the next customer. Now we are not the type to think we own the table for 2 hours or more. This all happened in 50 minutes and we were out the door, saying never again. All someone needed to do was say we are having a bit of a problem in the kitchen or something please accept our apology. This just did not happen. Don't bring our dinner 10 minutes after the appetizer and place it on the table before we have our wine and have begun the appetizer. Crummy night, crummy restaurant. There are so many other fine spots in Vail .

Everything about La Tour exudes French. The meals are decadent, and the wine list is superb. The service is professional, and repeat visitors to Vail always make sure to put dinner at La Tour on their agenda.
