User Reviews of The Dining Room

Good food, family atmosphere

My wife, daughter and I go here frequently. The dining room staff is always friendly, the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. The appeal of the dining room is a casual, friendly local restaurant that you can feel comfortable bringing the family to, anytime. We particularly like the cream of potato soup. Excellent.

not that great

We've been there several times. Lots of times in the old restaurant. It used to be very good. A recent visit was just bad. We all (4) had some pasta dish. The sauce was just horrible. It had an orange color and no taste. Not good for an Italian gravy. Please correct. We can't go there again unless...

Nice place but fix the gravy issue

A new building a new location. Bigger and roomier. Nice look, but... What in the world is this orange type stuff you have been substituting for a good Italian gravy (sauce). We ordered, Eggplant Parmigianino, Sausage and Angel Hair pasta, Meatball and Spaghetti and Chicken Parmigianino. It took a while to get this fairly simple order to come to our table. So it came. Every dish had this orangey type sauce. It all tasted the same, bland. Are we missing something here. This is an Italian restaurant, yes ? You've heard of tomato's, especially plum tomato's. This is New Jersey, we grow the best in the world. Use them, especially in the summer when the picking is ripe at every farm stand in Sussex County. What are you guys doing in the kitchen ? Not all is bad, the fried Calamari for an appetizer was excellent but it doesn't out weight the rest. Not a place to come back again unless the chef figures out how make a descent gravy. Please let us know should that happen..
