My son went for his 2 year appointment, and he had missed some speech landmarks. I took that to be just slowing down, but he insisted that I have him meet with some developmental speech folks. Eventually, he was seen by ECI, and within the next month, I should know if he has apraxia a speech disorder that often does not self correct. I would have waited another six months before seeking other options, so my son's doctor at ABCD has saved us about six months of frustration, and he likely has made it so that my son can get the proper speech therapy at the school district when he turns 3 next year.
