"Tell the chef this is low grade dog food. I can still see the marks from where the jockey was whipping the horse" We just returned from a long weekend in Point Judith and this was the only bad...

Frankly, after seeing George's on The Phantom Gourmet, we felt that the food was not up to par. We enjoyed the ribs, key lime pie, and cheesecake. The fish and chips were good/average. The teriyaki...

George's isn't a restaurant - it's a RI institution. I've been going there since I was a kid in the Mesozoic Era (1950s). Same ambiance, same wonderful deck overlooking the beach, same food. Fish &...

Great clam cakes, the service tends to be sub par in the summer due to the amount of clientele pouring into the restaurant to sample the outstanding seafood. I personally have experienced a wait of over an...

After a long hiatus from the seashore we decided to try Georges of galilee for some fried clams. The menu had dinners and clam rolls and we decided on the clam roll to sample the clams. The menu had a clam roll with fries and cole slaw for 8.99,a little pricey but hey this is Georges. When the meals arrived we had a small roll with 5 or 6 tiny belly clams, fries and a pickle, the menu stated that cole slaw came with the meal when we asked our waiter he told us they were trying to keep cost down by not giving slaw with sandwiches. He did bring us some slaw. The clams were horrible!! chewy, stringy almost nonedible. We asked for the check and when the charge was 10.99 we pointed out to the waiter the price difference he told that 8.99 was for the clam strip roll. Needless to say we will never drive to Georges again to keep our cost down ,with gasoline at $4 per gallon, it was a 42 mile trip to get there.

The impulse to drive as far as you can without winding up in the drink may account for part of the popularity of George's, in business for over 50 years. It can't be the food, which is good enough but...
