Hard Beds, Crampt and Grossly Overpriced

My wife and I reviewed multiple B&B's in the Santa Barbara area and chose the Simpson House because it is listed as AAA 5-diamond B&B: we were extremely disappointed after trying to sleep just one night in one of the hardest beds we've ever experienced (I was stiff for a full day afterwards, my wife ended up sleeping half the night upright in a chair, and we left that next morning despite a 2-day reservation)). The next morning we met with the unapologetic manager and she basically said that it was OUR problem because we did not call that evening for a room change (but later admitted that they buy "stiffer" mattresses for their rooms). Our tiny room also did not have a functional heater: the staff ended up eventually bringing in a portable unit (not by our request, but I guess the courteous non-management staff recognized the problem as well). The bed took up the majority of the room, and the bathroom did not have a functional exhaust fam. The room did have an in-room coffee maker, but they only provided decaf coffee. There are no views, and the internet access is "low", giving only sporadic connection. Nice, well-groomed grounds with extremely limited parking basically for small cars, this B&B would be more appropriately rated as a B-list bed and breakfast, and should only charge a price half of that which they currently charge. Not recommended.
