My family and myself dined out last night (around 730pm on Dec 30, 2007) at Tachibana Mclean, VA. after going to church. We wanted to relax and have good food while pondering on the year just passed. My younger brother was still browsing through their menu as he was not finished ordering and this slim, middle-aged abd somewhat tall japanese (?) lady-server just took the menu out of his hands without even excusing herself. All night she was in a hurry, wouldn't listen to our requests, and had this unpleasant look on her face, which did not make us feel welcome and relaxed. Service was so lousy that we were unable to appreciate our food. When we requested that our leftover food be packed because we wanted to take them home, we waited for nothing as the we were told another server already threw them away. They did not listen to our request again. Besides, reservation was chaotic. We called an hour to reserve a table for the family before going there and yet we had no reserved table when we reached the place. Overall, it was definitely NOT worth the $140 bill we paid (excluding the 15% tip which they did not deserve at all). We, diners, pay that amount for good food, ambience and excellent service. Based on the few dishes we tried out, food was acceptable; but the ambience and service were sorely lacking. Go somewhere better where you can get your money's worth and expect all three. Tachibana is simply NOT worth the price tag.
