In December 2008, I purchased a pair of Atomic Alpine Touring skis from REI in Seattle over the Internet. I told the Customer service I had a pair of Silvretta Easy Go bindings on my older skis and asked who could install the bindings on my skis here in So. CA. They said go to Rancho Cucamonga REI. I did. Eric from their Ski Dept. just called back with the following: I don't know what Silvretta bindings are, I have been here three years and never heard of them, would know nothing about it, try Sports Chalet!! Well Eric, not only did I buy the skis from you, I bought the Silvretta bindings from REI in 2003, and they are as well known in the binding world as Rosignol is in the ski world! Shame on you for not knowing! And shame on REI for selling stuff they later will not support, nor even know about. Selling packs is easy, the other stuff takes a bit more experience. Don't have the experience anymore? Don't sell it.

For whatever reason, I always compare REI to Chick's. And for whatever reason, REI always wins. This REI is smaller than the other one I've been to (Santa Clara, CA). It is still a good sized store,...
