This was the second try for this restaurant. The first was just after they had opened quite a few years ago. We had lunch and the food was very mediocre at best. Today we were with friends staying at the Ojai Inn and the Inn recommended the restaurant highly. Again, it was lunch on the weekend. Two of our party had smoked trout with a curry mayo on top. One sent it back as it tasted spoiled. The other ate it but later said he had a bad aftertaste like the fish was spoiled. I had a salmon pasta which also the fish tasted bad. I cook a lot and have a high standard for food. I don't know if the regular chef is only there in the evenings or what but 3 out of the 4 of us could not eat the food as it tasted terrible. The 4th in our party just had a chicken sandwhich which he said was ok, however there was nothing else on the plate but the sandwhich..no pickle not chips no garnish. My husband ordered ice cream to try to take away the bad taste and after waiting at least 20 minutes, they finally brought it after my husband flagged down the waitress. At this time we were the only ones in the restaurant. Needless to say we will never go back.
