22 Bowens is definitely a bit better than your run of the mill "seafood shack" type restaurant that you normally find down by the waterfront in most tourist towns. The decor is very tasteful and...

When it comes to restaurants, don't let labels determine expectations, or you may be disappointed. Though 22 Bowen's Wine Bar and Grille is considered "fine dining", my "dining" didn't live up to its qualifier. Though the incredible flavor of the freshly-baked cranberry nut rolls far surpassed the same-old sliced Italian bread usually served pre-meal, my experience went downhill from there. Due to the lack of interesting vegetarian options (as I'm a vegetarian), I considered combining a couple of sides (the variety plentiful, though for the most part lacking originality). I decided on a feta, roasted pepper, and chickpea salad that sounded delicious, but for reasons I can't quite understand wasn't as scrumptious as I had expected. Maybe it was hard to savor and appreciate the flavors my meal with the people I wished to enjoy it with when I couldn't hear myself think over the rowdy roar of the Saturday night bar crowd. The rushed, busy, though friendly and professional nature of our waiter also made me question why this restaurant is considered top-tier. Waiters in the most upscale restaurants appear to always make only your party his/her diners to serve and please. Labels can be deceiving, so I'll give this restaurant my own label that I consider far more truthful. It's your typical bar and grille whose occasional offerings of gustatory greatness allow it to serve $89 appetizers without getting laughed out of business.
