I used to take my VW Beetles and Jetta there in the 90's and thought he was fairly honest....till i found another mechanic that showed me that I didn't need half the stuff he told me I needed. I recently went back after he quoted me a price of $350 to fix my ABS brake module on my 2000 Passat. When I arrived to get it fixed he began a diagnostic test that I didn't even ask for.... Then he jacked up the price to $450 to do the ABS. This guy started working on my car to fix all these other issues I never even approved and changed his initial quote of $70 for the diagnostic to $120 for nothing. He also lied about me having being two quarts low on oil and told me I needed new laser spark plugs and a valve cover gasket (along with a whole list of things) when I literally had those changed 2 months ago. I will never go back Jomag again. He comes across as if he's looking out for you and your automobile, but he's really only looking out for himself.

I've been going here for 10 years since another mechanic gave up on my car, after four weeks in his shop, and had it towed to this place. Mauricio Velasquez, JOMAG's owner had it running in 2 days. The price for labor and parts is always a full third less than anywhere else I've been. He doesn't take your car unless he can give you a firm delivery date. The only problem with JOMAG is that since Mauricio has became something of an internet star mechanic, the chance of getting your car into his shop has become slimmer. He shuts at 2:30 on Saturday, 6:00 P.M. on weekdays, but is often forced to work long into the night to deliver as promised. Find me ANYONE like that in LA. Hands down the best Volkswagen air-cooled mechanical shop in the city. He does lots of cars but this place is a Volkswagen mecca. If you have an old bug, karmann ghia, bus or van, you probably already know he's the reason your antique is still running. Finally, let me say this in caps, HE'S THE ONLY TOTALLY HONEST AUTO MECHANIC I'VE EVER MET.
