Heavy, Overly Complex, Overly Sweet Sauces Drench Everything

Pleasant service in a cozy log cabin atmosphere. But each dish - from the appetizer, to salads to entrees were so heavily sauced, we couldn't taste the main ingredients. My salad with mixed greens, raisins, walnuts, apples, garbanzos & bleu cheese was weighted down by the heavy sweet dressing. The special fish the night we were there - a light white ocean fish of some sort was drenched in a sickeningly sweet, overly complex brown sauce with an international mixture of ingredients from Japanese (extremely sweet teriyaki-like), Latin - chilis & jalapenos, Thai - curry & ginger and Chinese - Hoisin - all mixed together into a melange of muck. No nuance. Though the waiter said the fish had been flown in fresh that day, there was no way to tell. Each dish was sweetened, most had both sugar & vinegar - the curries are sugary, the meats are covered in fruit preserves . . . it's a glycemic nightmare. Jalapenos, sugar & vinegar are added to everything from curries to chili sauces to teriyaki to stirfries. Yech!
