The Alchemist Lounge in Jamaica Plain is Boston's newest venue to grab an excellent bite to eat and catch a live show. I have been to every place in JP, and this one of 2 I will never eat at again. The food doesn't justify the price. They try to get way too clever with how the prepare the foods - and they don't pull it off. They think too much of themselves. I got a horrid pulled pork sandwich with a mustard sauce - it tasted way too much like vinegar. My wife got oysters and was sick for the next 24 hours. Wherever you sit, it is very loud, and the tables are so huge, you have to shout to whoever you are dining with. But there are some good things to be said. First, the service. Very friendly and fast. Come here with your friends for drinks either inside or outside, but don't eat.
