Not lately

My wife and I were regulars at Cates Steakhouse. The steaks were large/tasty and done exactly right. The service was always first class. Doug the owner always spoke to us amd made us feel very welcome. However lately things have really changed. We visted Cates tonight (10/10/08). We were the only people there and we waited 10 minutes for service to start, because of a shift change. It was so cold (later we found out it was below 60 inside)we had to wear our coats during dinner. We heard the staff talking and wondering if they should turn up the temp - even though it was hot in the kitchen. I ordered a Ribeye and I'm not sure what I got but it was not a Ribeye. When we went to pay with a credit card we were told they would have to add on a $1 if we paid by card. The whole time we were there loud rock music was playing. Needless to say Duog was not there.

We live 2 miles from Cates. They "coupon" us all the time. We never remember to go when the coupons are still good...but it doesn't matter. This place is not expensive for a steak place and it's just plain...

AWESOME!

My husband and I frequently eat at Cates and have never had a bad steak or anything else bad..The service has always been wonderful and I cant imagine a 20 min wait to be served...We are there 2 or 3 times per...
