User Reviews of Cheryl D Ackerman

Not a great experience

I was hesitant to give a less than favorable review about any doctor, but I feel my expereince was important enough to share with others and hopefully help them to avoid a similar experience. From the moment I met her, Dr, Ackerman, she seemed very removed from me as a patient- very mechanical and rushed. To illustrate this, she would not fully examine me during my initial visit, but instead insisted that I return for another visit during which time she said she would biopsy (!!!) the visible areas in question and then examine any other areas. (I had asked her about areas of concern not visible with my long pants n and requested that she examine those areas, but she would not do so at that time.) I was hoping to get some idea of what I was dealing with, but instead was informed I had to have biopsies, which caused great concern and many sleepless nights. Several other dermatologists I saw afterwards were able to tell me immediately what the problem was and informed me there was no cause for concern. To make matters even worse, I was forced to wait in her waiting room for nearly an hour during which time she greeted a pharmaceutical rep (who had come in after me) and took him into her office. (Yes, she took a rep before a paying customer.) In short, I paid for lackluster service, was caused undue anxiety and, to top it off, was made to feel that my patronage was less important to her than entertaining a pharmaceutical rep. In all, it was a very disappointing experience.
