Not worth the drive, wouldn't bother if we lived in town. Service poor, food marginal, all prepackaged and not fresh - seemed as if there was not enough traffic to warrant freshness - sort of stale, presentation not professional

I've worked down the street from The Lace Apron since a year after it was opened. I was sad to see it change hands but excited to see all of the energy directed to the new paint, ribbon cutting with Ms Fallbrook, new menu, new owner - photos and promises of a great "gourmet" chef in town...My co-workers and myself have tried the little shop several times, in the mornings and for lunch. The prices were gourmet alright, but the sandwiches and salads, pastries and pies were "grocery store" at best. My niece is a "chef" - she trained for alot of years then, worked under another chef before she was able to call herself one - and it

Like a lot of the smaller "speciality shops" in a "tourist-town-like" setting, the value is not there. The catering menu looks like an encyclopedia; can anyone truly prepare so many items well....

We did an experimental, formal dinner for eight of our friends before deciding not to go with this caterer for our daughter's wedding reception... Our original thought was that the menu seemed far too...

The new owner of the Lace Apron has remodeled the restaurant and revamped the menu. The bakery items are much better and tastier than the prevous owner's items, and the freshly-made quiches and soups are fabulous! The Lace Apron was fantastic 20 years ago, and the new owner is restoring this little Fallbrook gem to its previous glory days!

I've spent the last 27 yrs here in Fallbrook. Really enjoyed The Lace Apron when we could walk in, get a warm cookie and a good hot cup of coffee so that we could window shop awhile in town. Now, nothing warm except the coffee - which we prefer "hot". Even the gals behind the counter look as if they'd rather be somewhere else. I've seen the salad greens come out of big plastic bags from boxes they were pre-packed & shipped in from somewhere else, the dressing was taken from a plastic jug and put into smaller plastic cups to be served with our salads; we read in the local ads that all of this was being "hand prepared personally by a chef". We miss the way it used to be, real gourmet treats and lots of them, everyday - friendly serivice & warm cookies. Seen alot of newspaper articles about the owner and the place - looks good on paper...or shall I say in the Paper.
