User Reviews of Thistle and Shamrock

This is a great store! by Mandy K. at InsiderPages

I have shopped at the Thistle and Shamrock for years and have found them to be very helpful and professional! As far as what another reviewer said about their kilts being bad quality--that is not true. I have...

Be wary. by Anonymous A. at InsiderPages

Thistle & Shamrock breaks down when it comes to customer service. I was thinking about why my prior experiences have been so excellent and why the last two have been downright abusive, with employees giving me...

Bad Service!

I put down a deposit on a kilt for a birthday present, told them the specific days I'd be coming in, they said it would be ready. Came in - after surgery, mind you, so it wasn't exactly easy to get around - and they didn't even have the paperwork on the kilt, much less the kilt itself. Without so much as a hint of an apology or alternative or even empathy, I was told to wait around for a couple of hours and someone "might" be coming in and she'd "probably" have the kilt with her. I pointed out that we mentioned today and were told it was no problem, and he told me I should have called ahead with a tone like I'm some kind of idiot. I will have to make do with my old kilt for another two weeks, good thing I kept it as a backup even though it's getting positively ragged. This affects my professional appearance, and thus my bottom line. It's too bad for them, really - the kilt would have been $300, and this was my "splurge" weekend. I walked in prepared forgive the earlier transgression and to leave at least a thousand dollars poorer. I also intended to make an appointment for a bridal party, both for rentals and bought dresses, kilted skirts, fly plaids, scarves, and accessories. Had they not treated me like an idiot who doesn't deserve good service, they would easily have made $5000 in business off of my visit. I walked out vowing to avoid Thistle & Shamrock at all costs in the future - and telling my associates to do the same.

Never go here!!!!

I had been planning on using them to rent kilts from for my wedding for over a year. The woman told me that my date was too far off for them to book (6 months) now so wait until only a few months out. I call...

All things Celtic by Judith M. at InsiderPages

When I want a taste of my Scottish heritage I head for the Thistle and Shamrock. They carry a wonderful array of teas, tartan items and other things to allow me to travel back to the lands of my ancestors!
