I'd shop around before settling for less

The dogs get little to no playtime, staff members are rude and more concerned about cleaning. one of my friends that worked there said one of the staff actually abuse the dogs and they use too many chemicals...

Yelp.com Review - by Trish G.

4.0 of 5 stars. An awesome place for Dog Daycare or overnight stays. The place is clean and the employees seem to genuinely like dogs. They base their dog handling and training on Cesar Milan's Dog Whisperer...

Great daycare experience for me and my Dog!

I have had some experience with the big back yard through my girlfriend and now wife since her dogs have attended Day Care there since they were puppies. They are very accommodating and take great care of our dogs. Recently I got a new little puppy and we had to wait to take him until he got old enough. I have never seen him so tired as when I picked him up. He was so excited to go that he ran right in the first time and every time since. The staff and owners are great and have even helped my Mom train her dog in basic obedience successfully. They also offer a service where your dog can walk on the tread mill to get even more energy out (I have a pointer with lots of energy). They are a first class team and facility and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has a dog that needs to let off some steam during the day. They also offer boarding and we would not leave our dogs anywhere else if they can't go with us. You can ask for your dogs to be bathed before you pick them up and it is always nice to come home to clean tired dogs!

Sleepy Calm Dogs Welcome

After happily bringing our two labs to The Big Backyard for 3-4 months my lady and I were completely blindsided when the often impolite and rude morning manager informed us that our dogs were no longer welcome to the daycare on Saturdays. There is only one employee working on Saturday and he suddenly couldn't handle our two dogs. Furthermore, he was threatening to quit. We admit that our dogs are a handful. They are young, playful and full of energy, hence, the reason we take them to daycare to begin with. Overall they are excellent dogs, they obey commands, are kennel trained, and can be taken on walks fairly well. You would assume that being trained in this industry that the employees would be able to handle such dogs. The manager suggested that we take our dogs on walks assumingly to wear them out a bit before they were brought in for the day. To us this pretty much defeats the purpose of daycare. It was also suggested that we enroll them into a training program. We later discovered that the morning manager with no customer service skills turned out to be the owner. Obviously business is going so well that The Big Backyard is able to turn away customers with ease. Most daycares turn down aggressive, overly dominate, and excessively timid dogs, however, The Big Backyard has no problem turning down your typical excited and energetic Denver lab.

One of the oldest and most experienced

I like the big backyard. It's located so centrally and easy to find. They have been around a long time and are very experienced with handling dogs. They also now offer boarding which I like to take advantage...

No playtime?

This place is a waste of money. I spoke with one of the employees whom said that they are told NOT to play with the dogs in fear of rowdying them up, they take all toys away after 3pm. I worked at several...

Not a good choice

This daycare has well over 70 dogs a day with minimal staffing. I find it curious that they have no webcams for us to see what is really going on. Rows and rows of crates fill the walls and I wonder if the...

My dog's home away from home

My dog loves the Big Backyard. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgable about your pets. I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else.

My dog's home away from home! by Brandi N. at InsiderPages

My dog loves going to the Big Backyard. He has quickly made friends with the other dogs and the staff. It is the only place where he lets me leave without giving me a guild trip.
