Well, comparing SA, Brown Elephant and Village Discount in Roscoe Village, I can't say I'm an authority on thrift stores, but I'll say what I see and what I see is an attempt by Salvation Army to...

A new favorite! There is approximately one scant little foot of space between aisles, so browsing in is a bit of a task...but the supply is overwhelming. You probably won't want to dedicate the time...

I live close by, so I'll stop in every now and then or keep my eye on the display window to see what they've got. Normally, to be honest, I walk away empty handed. I did find a really nice kitchen...

I absolutely love the Salvation Army, I go to the ones in Oaklawn (87th St and 91st & Harlem) I get stuff so cheap, I feel like I'm stealing. Lots of Target overstock for pennies on the dollar. My best find a brand new Sunbeam Mixmaster mixer (beaters were missing) for $10, purchased the beaters online for $10, retails for $110 and up. This wk 8/11/08 all children's cloting 47 cents. I got 4 practically new coats for daughter for $1.41, one item was "free"

This is a pretty good one, but they don't have a dressing room. They have a small but nice selection of furniture. I was impressed with the high quality of it on my last visit.
