VERY Money Hungry

I HAVE to see Dr. Larned b/c there's no other Psychiatrist in the area that accepts my insurance. I missed one appointment and it was due to a huge crisis (I have Bipolar Disorder) and my family doctor told me to call her and ask for forgiveness for the missed appointment so I did. She was VERY rude and abrupt with me and said there's no forgiveness because she takes a loss b/c of how "little" she charges for services. Yeah that's great b/c I have insurance and they're DEFINITELY not paying you at a loss. Besides all of that, I'm not very happy with her services. She does not have a great "bedside" manner at all.

Focused On Money, Not Patients

I should have known the type of person Dr. Larned is when I first heard her office phone message. It dealt with money and missed appoinments more than it did healthcare. Definite warning for what was ahead. While paying for my current visit, Dr. Larned accused me of not paying for past visits in front of her waiting room full of people. She was going to charge my credit card for those visits without my authorization and would not give my credit card back. I told her t hat I would check with my credit card company to see if a past payment did not go through for some reason. This was not good enough for her. In front of her waiting room, she announced, "This cannot continue." She rifled through my files to "prove" I had not paid. She finally found my receipts, which proved she was mistaken. No appology. Nothing. She threw my card back and called the next patient into her office. When I told her she owed me an appology, she told her receptionist to call the police. I changed doctors, for obvious reasons. When my current doctor requested my medical records from doctor larned, she told him it would cost $65 for an "office fee"!!! I realilze that doctors "can" charge for their costs to forward records. However, most do not out of professional courtesy. I checked with the Florida State Board of Medicine, and Dr. Larned's charges were above and beyond what was allowed by law. She is clearly more worried about money than she is about her patients.
