User Reviews of Simmer Restaurant and Lounge

nice place by Kim K. at InsiderPages

Simmer has a diverse menu. The food is excellent, although pricey. I went here for a girls night out once and the food took so long to come (over 45 minutes), I had to take it home in a box so I could get home...

Medocrity at It's Best

Simmer opened a few years ago in what passes for a trendy shopping center in Canton. The very modern and cool design is complimented by clueless staff and truly institutional food. A recent visit had me solo at the bar for a glass of wine and light dinner. I was solo as being by myself, and as being the only person in the restaurant. It only went downhill from there as the bartender could not describe what the Ridge Three Valley Sonoma was other than red wine. She tried to make something up saying Ridge was one of the valleys. Nothing like being well informed. I settled on an order of Artichoke Crusted Salmon on a bed of spinach. I asked if it was farmed or wild, Atlantic or Pacific. To the bartender's credit, she admitted she did not know but would ask. She came back with farmed, Canadian, and proceeded to tell me farmed Salmon was far superior to wild. On to dinner. Dinner arrived promptly. It looked quite nice. It wasn't artichoke crusted, but a puree of artichoke on the salmon filet. The artichoke puree was quite tasty. Period. The rest was....interesting. How can 1/3 of the filet be hot and the other 2/3's be cold ? Think maybe these were pre-cooked ? On the other hand, the spinach was dead cold and unseasoned. But the crowning touch was the stomach ache and intestinal distress I enjoyed latter that evening. Save your money. Buy your favorite frozen meal. You'll enjoy far more.

Gourmet food in Canton

Great place in Canton to retreat after a shopping trip. Nice diverse menu. Food preparation and presentation are deluxe. Atmosphere is laid back with a different feel. Highly recommend.
