My wife and I took old 6 year old Vizsla, Sadie, to VCA this weekend at midnight. Sadie had delivered two puppies earlier in the day and was in some difficulty when labor seemed to resume in the evening. We only learning after an x-ray that there were three more puppies! It had been several hours since puppy number two had been born and we weren't sure any of the three were viable. Sadie was so tired that we weren't sure she could deliver again without a C-section. Above all, our interest was helping Sadie. Dr. Meyer got us through this with outstanding skill and compassion. Here's the end of the story. We opted for Oxytocin (to help Sadie contract) instead of the c-section. After a cliff-hanging wait and a lot of work on Sadie's part, the next puppy was born-- dead, badly deformed, oversized, and breach. No wonder she had had trouble! Soon thereafter, we had two more "live" puppies, healthy and complaining about the long wait they had endured. Today, everyone is doing well. Thank you, Dr. Meyer and VCA! You can absolutely trust this crew with the pet(s) you love!
