Okay, maybe apart from happy hour at the express you're just about always better off in the restaurant section. They have a large but well-planned menu with lots of tasty appetizers, entrees, salads,...

Oh yeah! What a gem to find in Boise. I'm addicted to Sushi and this fish is good with an owner/chef running the place. There is also the express next door that is $1/plate 5-7 Wed-Sat. It's...

service is meh. the original reviewer nailed it pretty much, best in town. since most yelpers are sf-bay area or so-cal people, kind of have to take it with a grain of salt. this is boise, and this...

Went to Express for happy hour. $1 for the sushi on the little boats. Not the best selection. Kind of sketchy cleanliness. Very small space. Lots of waiting people outside. Ended up ordering a sashimi...

I absolutely LOVE Shiges, as for "Steve M" that sounds like a very unfortunate experience. I'm sure it was one of those few mix ups restaurants deal with at least once or twice, things can't always go...

Years ago several of my friends and I went to Shige. We were served some drinks and NO food after more than 2 hours of waiting. We finally said to bring us the check for the drinks so we could...

Favorite sushi in Boise, I really like their sugardaddy roll.I've only eaten at their express sushi spot once, and that was good as well.

I'm not sure how I feel about this place. Inconsistent is the best way that I describe it. While the assorted sashimi was good, I have to keep in mind that I'm in land-locked Idaho. The scallops were...

I checked Yelp and the Boise Weekly to find the best sushi in town. Both sources pointed me to this place and I was a little disappointed. The bar is small, about 20-25 seats around the sole sushi chef...

Over a decade ago, before sushi became trendy, Shige's was the epitome of authenticity combined with his own personal culinary flair. Today, he has maintained that harmony without compromising his style. We...

This is one of the "original" upscale sushi places in Boise. There were a few others before Shige arrived, but it's fair to say that he took sushi to a new level in Boise. It's a good place. The fish is fresh and the sushi chefs are the real-deal. I recommend sitting at the bar as the atmosphere at the tables isn't anything special.

While this place may not match some of the best in SF Bay Area, it's definitely a recommendable place. A lot of Japanese natives come here for casual setting and relatively good selection of Japanese...

Other reviews say Shige's is "overrated" etc, but those reviews are over a year old. If you want "exciting" sushi, there are alternatives such as Zutto, (promoted as New York style) or Koi downtown. Anyway,...

The amount of sushi you get with your order is as good as the food. The fish is the freshest in town. Cooked food is just as good as the sushi so if you don't like sushi you can still get great japanese food.
