Eist is Good Medicine

Best psychiatrist I've ever had and I went through dozens of dead beats before he correctly diagnosed and treated me for bipolar disorder, ADHD and Anxiety. I'm severely bipolar and it went untreated for 35 years. Not only was he the only psychiatrist to recognize the problems, we have developed a strong alliance and have been largely successful at treating the symptoms with the correct medications and psychotherapy. And cleaning up the mess that was my life prior to diagnosis. It's an ongoing process. It's a life long illness that will require continuing care but I feel I am in exceptionally competent hands. He has empathy and compassion. And a brilliant psychiatric brain.

Arrogant, Unavailable but Brilliant

Bottom line is that he is careful, precise and ultimately insightful. He knows his psychopharmacology and does not take shortcuts. He is willing to challenge his own assumptions. He keeps up to date with the research but is not overly enamored with the latest wonderdrug. He is not for sale to drug companies. He is highly ethical. He accepts samples but nothing more. He is a defender of patient's rights. He spent millions of his own money defending (successfully) a patient's privacy in the midst of a ugly custody battle. He does not charge for no-shows. Downside is that he has way too many patients. He takes forever to call in a prescriptions and even longer to get an appointment. He often does not return phone calls. He is extraordinarily expensive even for Bethesda. Expect to battle your insurance company or pay out of pocket. He is in demand and he knows it.

He's the BEST for young boys

Dr. Eist has been seeing my son since he was 11 years old. He is now 16. Dr. Eist has been able to take a complex combination of emotional symptoms and treat them with a complex combination of medications with amazing results. Without Dr. Eist's expert care, my son would have been institutionalized with severe depression, anxiety, and oppositional behaviors. Instead he is functioning as a normal teen, is in regular school, getting 'A's in honors courses and excelling in athletics. Most people don't know he takes medication.
